Gorman Bros. Woodlands Operations on Forest License A18671 are conducted within an Environmental Management System (EMS) that meets the ISO 14001 International Standard for management systems. The basic structure of the ISO 14001 Standard for the Woodlands EMS is a "\Plan, Do, Check\" cycle. Significant Environmental Aspects are identified and tracked throughout the forest management cycle, in order to ensure that our activities do not cause undue harm to the environment.

To further our efforts towards ensuring sustainable forest management, Gorman Bros. has implemented a land-based certification for our operating area that meets the Canadian Standards Association Z809 Standard. On-the-ground forest management activities will be conducted according to the Sustainable Forest Management Plan. Performance levels are measured against the SFM indicators - results are contained in the "Annual Monitoring Report - 2007".

Each year, third party audits are performed to ensure compliance with both Standards, and to identify areas of continual improvement.

In February and October, 2007 audit teams from QMI conducted audits of the SFM and EMS systems. Gorman Bros. Woodlands was recommended for continued registration under both the ISO 14001 and the CSA Z809 Standards through to 2010.
