Gorman Bros. Woodlands Operations on Forest License A18671 are conducted within an Environmental Management System (EMS) that meets the ISO 14001 International Standard for management systems. The basic structure of the ISO 14001 Standard for the Woodlands EMS is a "\Plan, Do, Check\" cycle. Significant Environmental Aspects are identified and tracked throughout the forest management cycle, in order to ensure that our activities do not cause undue harm to the environment.

To further our efforts towards ensuring sustainable forest management, Gorman Bros. has implemented a land-based sustainable forest management (SFM) certification for our operating area that meets the Canadian Standards Association Z809 Standard. On-the-ground forest management activities are conducted according to the Sustainable Forest Management Plan. Performance levels are measured against the SFM indicators - results are contained in the "Annual Monitoring Report - 2009".

Teams from QMI conduct annual audits of the SFM and EMS systems. Gorman Bros. Woodlands maintains registration under both the ISO 14001 and the CSA Z809 Standards.

Gorman Bros. is committed to the implementation of the PEFC Annex 4 Chain of Custody which we began in November 2009. This system is designed to track logs from sustainably managed forests through processing into finished products and to markets.
