We are seeking a dynamic Maintenance Superintendent to join the team. This role reports directly to the Plant Manager and oversees all aspects of the maintenance department. Responsibilities include maintaining manufacturing assets, managing the maintenance budget and resources, and assisting with the design and installation of new systems. The Maintenance Superintendent will lead the Maintenance Supervisors and support a team of 75 employees, while also overseeing purchasing.
- Establish a high level of safety, health, & environmental compliance through communication, monitoring, training, and setting of performance standards.
- Drive accountability for both results and actions of direct reports through education, motivation, documentation, and behavior-based coaching.
- Supervise salaried and hourly maintenance employees and schedule outside vendors and contractors.
- Drive operational enhancements and improvements, and prepare recommendations for major repairs, replacement, upgrade and new processes.
- Review and update written maintenance instructions and schedules and work closely with the maintenance team and other departments to implement cost saving measures.
- Set and monitor maintenance performance targets and ensure policies, procedures and practices are followed.
- Ensure compliance with Technical Safety BC regulatory requirements for boilers, electrical, and gas systems.
- Address all safety concerns raised by employees or from safety audits and advise workers and management of any potential or actual hazards.
- At least 5 years of supervisory experience in a process manufacturing environment.
- Red Seal Certification in Electrical or Mechanical fields is preferred.
- Extensive maintenance knowledge, including reliability concepts, processes, and methodologies.
- Proficiency in using CMMS programs.
- Strong analytical and data-driven problem-solving and action-planning skills.
- Capability to empower, supervise, and direct a diverse workforce.
- Advanced computer skills with excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and the ability to interpret technical drawings is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to build inter-departmental relationships, lead change, and continuously improve team performance.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to ever-changing work demands
SALARY RANGE: We offer a competitive compensation package based on your skills and experience. The expected base salary range for this position is $135,000 to $145,000 per year.
